I have a 2003 ranger and it keeps having ths same problem every few weeks. I will be driving down the highway and will turn on my lights, or windshield whipers, or step on my brake, and the whole system will surge. The dash lights all come on and it jerks. Then goes back to normal. Has anyone had any problems like this? Any suggestions of what it could be besides the alternator?

That sounds like a huge Computer Problem.... have you seen a Mechanic?

Well considering that this truck is a 2003 model I would take that thing in to Ford and have them diagnose the issues. I know that there have been a few bad flashes on the ECU and that Ford has put out an upgrade on the ECU not that long ago.

Might be something to consider.
