2008 Ranger Auto Trans shift indicator

Has anyone had to replace the cable that runs from the steering column up to the gear indicator in the instrument cluster (PR321)? The end of my cable is broken at the steering column and I would like to know if I need to remove the entire instrument cluster to replace the cable.

It usually needs to be unbolted to move cluster enough to get Indicator out of cluster.

Thanks for the response! You are correct, there would be no way to replace it without removing the instrument cluster. I completed the repair this morning, and it was not a bad job at all; in fact, the gear indicator and cable assembly can be replaced in 1 to 1/2 hours. Removing the instrument cluster was not that difficult. I was relieved.
