'87 ranger emergency brakes - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hey all,

I have a '87 ranger and the emergency brake does not work.
I recently got it back from my brother and the tension mechanism
is about as tight as it can go. I do not know when he last replaced
the brakes but is that probably the problem(new brakes)?

I would pull the drums and have a look. Also make sure the shoes are adjusted out.

Check your brake cables esp. if used in bad weather or in off road conditions. both of mine froze up and stopped working. They are not to hard to replace if needed.
