I have an 88 2.9 x cab it was an auto but it took a dump and now I wish to make it a manual . well all the hard warks done tranny fit with no problems But I,m have a hard time finding a driveshaft to fit it . the auto was 4 inches longer then the manual. Does any one know if i can get away with using a 4x4 front shaft ,I only need to x tend the front section.any help would be appreciated thanks ..Roberto

i am not sure about the front shaft but i think the front shaft from a 4x4 is smaller than the rear shaft which would probably not be strong enough and i still think the length would be wrong. i think you need a driveshaft from a standard trans truck or you can have a driveshaft custom fitted which might be salty $,$$$.
i am sure you could weld something together yourself but it wouldnt work right. it needs to be balanced or it will vibrate real bad and probably eat u-joints.

Your safest bet is a visit to a junkyard I'm sure they have one or else you can be like Jesse James and make you own. Driveshafts $50 or less.
