I have a 1988 Ford Ranger that failed the California Smog check. The results showed that I have high NOx and I also have a leak in the fuel vapor system. I think that I can take care of the high NOx by changing out the EGR valve. No real drama doing that. However, how do I check to see where the leak is in the fuel vapor system is? Should I change the gas cap? Should I look at the hoses to the charcoal filter and replace them as well? Any help would greatly appreciated.

My experience with leaks has always been something the Humanoid is messing with. Yes on the gas cap. Check around the AIrfilter and connections too.
On the other, my Jeep failed and the guy told me to go get some fresh hi-test gas and have the oil n' filter changed. It worked.
