Most all conectors have a release on them. use a tiny flathead s/d or a mechanics pick and go in the way of the connector (normally outside of the terminal[metal], inside the plastic)on the female end. These will come out toward you. If you are dealing with a male end you may need to pinch the male pin with some needle nose and they should push through the connector. Look to see if you can do this. If the connector is female again they may also release from the back though this is unlikeley. Go to your auto part store or dealership and they will be able to provide you with a repair kit for the pins. do this first and it will give you a much better idea about what is going on.
If nothing else, you can remove the connector altogether and replace with flat connectors with shrouds or just use a butt connector.
