91 Ranger Brakes

I was driving down the highway a few days ago and when I hit my brakes on the exit ramp, they were very spongy. Today I checked the front brakes, and both calipers are working fine, pads are fairly new. I checked the rear and the shoes needed replacing. Put new shoes on, no leaks around the cylinders. The problem persisted. I went ahead and put a new Master Cylinder on, as this was the original (1991). Bled all 4 brakes and walla ! The problem is the same... I put the brakes on and it slows, but the pedal continues to travel. It does stops, if I hit it hard the back ones lock briefly until the anti lock kicks in, but if I keep pressure the pedal will go all the way to the floor. I have no idea what to check next? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Red face Re: 91 Ranger Brakes

The booster checked out fine.. I went back, re-adjusted the rear brakes and then bled all four wheels again. That seemed to do it. I guess I had not gotten all of the air out.... I bled it until it was clear. Perhaps I just did not bench bleed it as well as I thought I had. Thanks for the response however.
