confused 94 ranger idle problems

i have a 94 ranger 2.3L with 193,xxx miles on it.......it will start fine but idles rough till the point it tries to die......sometimes it will die and sometimes it will pick back up by itselfs.....it also will do it when you come to a stop while driving......it has new plugs and wires......ive been told by a "back yard mechanic" that it could be the iac sensor (idol air control) so i had another complete motor with 60,xxx miles on it ans swapped them out and i still have the same problem....its not throwin any codes which has me confused.....so any help would be greatly appreciated......

Re: 94 ranger idle problems

have you checked the fuel line for a kink, replaced the fuel filter, checked the fuel pump, checked the TB for carbon build up? These are just a few simple things that will cause what you are experiencing and not show any codes.
