My son has a 95 Ranger 2.3 that will start and run, but when he stops and shuts it off it will not start again. If he waits about 2 hours it will start. The fuel filter was changed and you can hear the high pressure pump come on when you turn the key on. Any help would be appreciated.

Could this be caused by a faulty fuel pressure regulator?

check the air filter. if the engine won't start when it's hot but no problem when it's cold the air filter may need to be replaced.

Change the fuel pump. My my '95 did the exact same thing and died at a very inconvienent time (wedding day).

does this ranger feature a tfi ingition module? if so its overheating.

Yes, the fuel pump could be causing some problems too but I'd bet on the TFI...classic symptoms.
