Hey I'm brand spanking new here and I didn't feel like digging through some 200 threads so I took the easy way out!!


I'm trying to find a engine for my 97 ford ranger! I have the 3.0 in it and I was wondering if I could swap to the 4.0? Hell I might even take the 2.3. You see I recently blew my engine and I want to get it running again!

So if everyone could be so kind and let me know if the 4.0 would swap without doing excessive work on the comp and trannie I would much appreicate it!

Easiest way would be to find a wrecked 3.0 or 4.0 the same year and swap everything over. That said, it isn't much more work to swap in a 5.0 V-8 with a kit, especially if you have an automatic (or put one in).

I would go with a swap from a wrecked 3.0 or 4.0
