Checked fuses? (Under the dash and under the hood)
Check for power at the electrical connection to the compressor.
Does the compressor kick in and out but just not get cool?

checked fuses all looked good!! but when i turn the switch to a/c i dont hear it kickin on at all nore does the engine kick down a lil or whatever it does when u turn the a/c on!! so does that mean the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced or what do u recommend the problem could be? thanks for replying to my post also greatly appreciated!!!!

Mine is doing the same thing...except mine is a 92. No the compressor is not bad...its something to do with electrical is what I was told. Like an A/C Relay or A/C fuse is the most probable cause. (from what the mechanic told me). They recharged my system, but ran out of time to get it cold. I should have mine up and running cold tomorrow. :D

Re: 99 Ranger A/C not working at all!!!

I just went back today and now they tell me my compressor isn't compressing. The clutch portion of it is working, but it's just not compressing. So it looks like a new compressor in store for me. :-( Electrically the system is fine. I went to a different mechanic because the one I went to yesterday didn't know his stuff. They want $400 to replace it and then reservice it. I'm going to see if I can find one cheaper and then just do it myself. More than likely its probably the compressor as that's what's wrong with most A/C systems if it system holds the R134.
