confused Air bag Error Code = 46

I recently purchased a 2002 Ford Ranger standard cab. When starting the truck, the airbag light flashes error code 46, even when disabling the passenger airbag. The OB2 computer does not register any error codes.

Since there is no documentation on air bag codes, I am kind of lost on this one. Can you help???

Re: Air bag Error Code = 46

Thanks for the link. The tip mentions that it is a listing for the Ford Probe. I will research it and see if there is some commonality.

By the way, the Ford dealer could not find an air bag code of 46. Interesting.....

Re: Air bag Error Code = 46

That's not suprising, I had a dealership that wanted to tear down an engine to find a miss, I brought it home and found a cracked spark plug, problem solved.

Re: Air bag Error Code = 46 - problem solved

I discovered the source of my air bag error code (47). It turned out to be a bad connection under the driver's seat. I could make the error code go away by moving the seat forward.

Once I discovered how to make it fail, I simply reached under the seat and pushed the connector together.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Thanks for everyone's help.....John
