lvbluesboy Registered User Join Date: Aug 2007 Posts: 1	Automatic Transmission Noise Hello All, I have a 2005 Ranger Edge with the 5 speed automatic. Just recently the transmission has started to make a slight whining noise when it winds out in first gear and is getting ready to shift. The actual shifting is fine and there are no other operational problems. The trans fluid and filter has been changed as specified in the maintenance manual. I have seen some issues with the 5 speed and I am trying to decide what to do. Should I take the truck into the dealer or? The truck has 53,000 miles on it and has been well taken care of. I just don't want to get ripped off and end up paying for a new tranmission if it isn't needed. The warranty expired at 36,000 miles so I will be paying for whatever needs to be done. Any advice would be most appreciated.
