Question Brake does not shut down cruise control
My wife has a 1994 Ford Ranger, automatic. It is possible to set the cruise control, but it does not de-activate when the brake is depressed. In addition the brake lights do not lite up when the brake pedal is depressed. NB: The fuses for both circuits are okay.

Is there a connection between the brake lights and the cruise control? If so, where do I look for the problem? At the brake pedal? Or...???

There is the BOO (Brake On Off) switch located on the brake pedal. Check there first. The other switch is on the master cylinder, but does not affect brake lights.

I had to replace the BOO switch on my T-bird with the same problem
