Fluid level or float stuck in master cylinder or level bad switch, if equipped with float style fluid level switch. Air in system, even if brake pedal feels fairly firm it can still have air in system. Perhaps an ABS code scan would help.

Re: brake lights on the dash stay on

I have a 1995 Ford Ranger XLT with both the Parking brake/ABS lights on. Feels like my rear is dragging and is harder to accelerate/stop. Really need help. I am constantly checking to see if the parking brake is hanging up butI haven'tused it in six months.

You should at least jack it up and see if it is hard to turn the wheels. If so you need to service it soon or have it done by a shop.
