Brake rotor replacement options?

My rotors have been turned for as many times as the specs allow, and I'm forced to look at replacement the next time.

I've not been happy with the OEM hubs and rotors, and don't want to go back with them unless I can be sure the quality is better. At present, I have 66,300 miles plus or minus a few on the truck.

What are the options for a good quality set of hubs and rotors that will not be so warpage prone?

Thanks in advance,
Rick

gez. Any aftermarket is going to be on par or better than OEM. What else do you need to know?

Warpage is conditioned from many factors such as but not limited to

1. cheap metal
2. Cheap heat treating
3. your driving condition
4. Your pads
5. running through high water

Even the best rotors are going to warp if you misuse, abuse or even do thing that are going to cause cheap metal or good metal to warp. You can spend 8k on a good set of rotors/hubs/calipers/pads and still get warpage.

If all you are after is a replacement recommendation then anyone of them that are OEM specific to your truck are going to be just as good as Ford Bought products.

Re: Brake rotor replacement options?

I found vented and cross-drilled rotors available by order at Advance Auto Parts.

Check it out.

Re: Brake rotor replacement options?

Shadow, what are the advantages there? I.e., "vented and cross drilled?"

I can talk motorcycles and bicycles, but (unfortunately), I am majorly uninformed about automotive mechanics, and don't even know what the various options are.

Any feedback on the replacement options will be appreciated.

Re: Brake rotor replacement options?

Vented and Cross drilled help with cooling, but you lose pad area and pads quicker(cross drilled only)

I have an article written up about this. Have to find it. Published it on another site a long time ago. As soon as I dig it up I will post it in here.

Re: Brake rotor replacement options?

I ended up going with Wagners. Had to get something done between work and other necessary chores, and they were the best available.

Thanks for the various feedback.
