Catastrophic Oil Pump Failure on 98' - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Just an FYI.

Oil pump died enroute to work yesterday am. Lot's O noise coming from engine, looked down at the gauge and nothing! Proved fatal @ 105K miles.
I have the 3.0L, found one in a junk yard, 99' with only 52K miles.
Any suggestions before installing replacement motor? A few more ponies would be nice.

make sure it has good compression. go ahead and change the stuff on the lower end like the rear main seals and what not on the oil pan.( which is what i think happened to your truck, its just like oil pump going bad) and if you are going for more ponies add a set of these 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers [RRR1.7] - $249.00 : Underdog-Performance, Stuff For Your Ranger

I ordered the Roller rockers and the Screamin' Demon coil pack. I'll have the parts tomorrow. New motor is at my buddies shop, was ready to go in, except I got those parts coming tomorrow.
I need a few extra ponies out of this motor, I tow a 18' pontoon boat on occasion. The 3.0 has all it can do just to maintain 60mph with boat in tow.

Nixin' the roller rockers! Out of stock, won't be able to ship for three days. Too late, the enging goes in tonight! I still have the coil pack coming to day.

This is unbelievable!
Still don't have a motor (that runs) installed in the truck! On my 3rd motor from a junkyard!..
Motor 1: Ran great at junkyard, they wanted top $$$ ($600.) for low mileage, 51,000. Ended up having blown head gasket although ran great cold.
Motor 2: Junkyard motor, ran great cold (again) then like crap, then good again. Ended up being a Flex motor!
Motor 3: on it's way.... stay tuned!
Junkyards told tell ya crap, just sell ya

just remember that truck is in the junkyard for a reason so it would help to find out why.

The first motor was from a 99' that was totalled! 51,000 miles, you'd think it would have been a great motor.

After 7 weeks and 3 junk junkyard motors, we're gonna rebuild the original motor. Roller rockers, coil pack and under drive pulleys are goin' in!
