Engine/fuel lights

Hi...I have a 2004 Ranger. My gas light came on tricking me into thinking someone stole my fuel. Filled the truck, it's still on. A minute later, my engine light came on. Any ideas?

Its best to get the code(s) read first to get to the root of the problem instead of guessing. If it runs fine Id guess its something stupid like a faulty fuel level float or something.

Re: Engine/fuel lights

Ok, you light comes on, but what does the fuel gauge say?

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?

I took it in and the code indicates that the fuel lever sensor "A" electrical input signal had high voltage for a predetermined period of time. Yikes....so new fuel pump? Is this also saying that there's an electrical problem? My fuel light is still on.

Re: Engine/fuel lights

I'd lean more towards the fuel tank sending unit.
