Non-ford man

Hello,
I'm new here as well as to the whole "Ford" world so bear with me Okays? And I know Multi-posting a question is bad form But, I kind of need some good answers for this one.Anyway, here is the question.

Ford Ranger (2000 I think) Guy has it and I like the way it looks the problem is the v-6 is blown and if I'm putting a new engine in I want an Eight so, can the "new" 4.6 be swapped in ?

And if so where would some one get parts for such a swap? Not to mention would it bolt to the transmission? how about the wireing?
I posted this here because I figured that some one must be doing this in maybe Mustang? Please I can basicly "steal" this truck so any help would be great.thank you, and later.
Oh and as for the name I got tired of trying to think of one that wasn't taken.

boy i wish i could give you some useful info but you got me stumped on this.
i do however know that a 351w will bolt to the trans on that but i am not sure if the 4.6 is the same as that.
i did see a 351w put into one of these and it was an extensive mod involving a custom made heater box.
things are real tight with a v8 stuffed into there.
once it was complete and runnin it was crazy though he could smoke the tires off in 3rd gear just by mashing the throttle at 45 mph or so.

first off welcome

the 4.6L is a 90 degree block. so if you were going to drop in the 4.6L you would have to cut wheel wells and the trans will not bolt up. i was going to do the same thing to mine but i dont want to cut any thing. but the 5.0L will do fine matter of fact the explorer 4 door came with the 5.0L in 95-97?. and the 5.0L has parts for it a lot cheaper if you want to get more info on a v8 conversion go to www.therangerstation.com sroll down untill u see 5.0L swap and read on from there . good luck also try www.ford-trucks.com
