Hey Dave,
I am running into the same problem with my 97. Unfortunately I have already made the purchases, as well. Where, specifically, was your harness rubbing the frame? It seems like my harness is just going from firewall to engine compartment, on up to headlights, and such (but, honestly, after I just read your post, I was out on my gravel driveway with a flashlight at 11 PM).
Any specificity to the location of your wire break would be helpful.
