I recently had my check engine light on.The scanner told me P0443 Purge Valve Control Fault C.I changed out the purge control valve and solenoid(2 different parts).I also replaced all vacuum hoses only to still have the "check engine".While doing a voltmeter test to the system,I noticed one of the wires coming off of the solenoid routed down underneath the frame.The routing of these wires left them in a spot where they obviously are prone to rubbing.A severed wire was all it was.After fusing these back together.... No More check engine light.Hopefully my pain and frustration can save somebody else this hassle.

well take ur postice battery cable off and reset it. the check engine light wont just go off like a normal light u hae to reset it. take the battery cable off and wait a few seconds like 10 or 20s and put it back on and see if it comes back on.

Hey Dave,

I am running into the same problem with my 97. Unfortunately I have already made the purchases, as well. Where, specifically, was your harness rubbing the frame? It seems like my harness is just going from firewall to engine compartment, on up to headlights, and such (but, honestly, after I just read your post, I was out on my gravel driveway with a flashlight at 11 PM).

Any specificity to the location of your wire break would be helpful.
