Hi, newbie here. Just bought a used 2001 Ranger 4x4 (3.0L) with the off-road pkg. It was a salvage title so I don't have the owners manual. First of all, what's the fuel capacity of this truck? Second, what is to be expected for gas mileage. My initial impressions of gas mileage are not too good. lol I'm getting about 210+ miles per fill up. Is that about right?

yeah, i have '99 with the 3.0 2wd. i get around 200 - 250 ish if i drive nice. i've gotten 300 before but that's ideal driving conditions. i average about 15 w/ AC and 17/18/ w/o AC. they aren't really fuel efficient for being little trucks because the engines gotta work really hard to make the little things move. if you can bear it, drive with out the A/C on, especially on the interstate(roll down a window).

Ditto, 16 to 19 mpg is all you get .

My 1994 3.0L with extra cab gets about 23mpg, but it's manual... is it that big a difference?

Wow, I can't imagine so. 23 mpg is excellent though! I just installed a snapless tonneau cover so I hope gas mileage improves some.

I have a 97 3.0 with a 5spd. Normally driving city i get 22 and then highway i get like 21 or so. It really needs a 6 spd in it.

I just love the automatic, it's just more convenient. Didn't realize however that the manual really saves on gas.
