I got a 2000 Ford Ranger and I was wondering what kind of gas mileage should I see out of it?? I think here latley it has been eating some gas,I havent had it at the shop to run any codes, air filter is almost brand new along with wires and plugs. I run 10W-40 Synthetic. It needs a oil change and I thought about going and changer all fluids like tranny and diffs. Last time I went Wal-Mart the ysaid the diffs were looking kinda chucky with the oil probly from me mudding. It also have duals on it with no muffler and All-Terrain tires. Its also the 3.0L V6. What do ya'll think??
iv got a automatic 2wd 2000 with the 3.0 and i get about 17 in city and about 22 in hwy. But i got stock exhaust and street tires so .. i should get a little better than u ..
add sum lucas synthetic oil stablizer in there the pure synthetic ya the black bottle 1 though $30 a bottle on castrol syntec plus sum hyperlube radiator treatment u get maybe 5 more mpg no matter what u drive really, lol
and i can contest to this, if u get a knn or a uni foam filter, and a tornado or a turbinator www.turbinator.com u put that along with a knn and ull see serious gas milege ive goten maybe 15 more mpg with knn and tornado combination maybe 10 more of the castrol and lucas pure synthetic
the best thing is on bolth the knn and the tornado u can return it if ur not satasified with what it can do gauntreed
o ya and walmart oil bro no good go for the good brands i mean valvoline at least
to really see power u need 3 turbinators in a row right before a tornado and the mass air sensor as close to the tb as possible 35% increase they say, i think more and this engine can handle nos at least the 2.3 but i can contest to that 2 and jetfuel, if u can get it cool enuf like idling between 165-180F headtemp
Cronicus is being funny, real funny. It isn't going to be a mileage champ no matter what you do. Use 5w-30 oil though, the thicker stuff may be hurting you. Change the axle lube, change the t-case lube (I use Mobil 1 ATF, it's easy to change). Tranny lube if it's time. On an engine as small as a 3.0, duals are hurting your mileage actually. Change the fuel filter too if you haven't done that.
explane this how a ford tempo can get better gas milege than a hybrid, rofl o ya i got an 91 xlt 250 at work doing between 25-32 hauling a trailer, ususaly with engines
and i would kill to see that less friction and less heat dosent create more power and better gas milege, its just skeptisim on the products, just liek the turbinators but what he said and making shure ur tires are good, and full are gona be ur biggest savers if u dont wana go this route.
