Question help 2001 ford ranger edge 5speed

i have a 2001 ranger that has an issue with surging but no diagnostic codes can be found, The engine light does not come on or anything. I did however notice that if it is a little cold it does it mainly then.
ANY HELP?

hmmm. how many miles?, it could be a slight misfire

Take a look at the IAC solenoid and the EGR valve and it's components (i.e. the tubes in from the exhaust and out to the plenum). I had the same problem with both. The IAC gave me no "bells or whistles", but certainly mad for some fun surging =8*} !
