Iwanna do preventive maint. on my 02 Ranger XLT supercab XLT V6,3.0L. Auto/A/c,etc.Thought While you Experts are up anyway! What's the tips on my Ranger Serpentine chahge?Last time I did one was on my 94 Jeep! Not too bad ,So who's the Expert with the tip on replacing it wouldv be appreciated.Whats the latest TIP?Thankls

1st, I prefer Motorcraft belts.

2nd, if the tensioner is worn (usually will be kicked out at an angle) or feels like it wants to stick and doesn't want to move freely...I'd replace it at the same time. Also check idler pulley for noise or wear, especially if it's made of plastic.

Thanks there BB! I still can't "guess" metric sizes either! Today I did a "dry run" and 15MM bolts on idler&Tensioner I can't remember when I did my last Serp.? I had a 94 Cherokee,though! Tomorrow:D Day!

The ones I remember doing use the 3/8 drive on a ratchet. On some models there is not enough room for the ratchet. They sell a tool for this, which is much thinner. The last time I used mine, the handle was too long to get enough movement, so I had to cut it of some to work for me. Some auto parts will loan them out with a deposit.
