Thumbs up Maintenance on 1999 Ford Ranger

Today I had to put a new timeing belt on my 1999 (4cyl.) Ford ranger and along with new plug and wires.

I would like to know what other things I need to do with 85,000 miles on the Ranger?

Clean the Injectors, Air intake boby, and what else would you have done to it ti get it in TIP TOP SHARP?

Who makes the best Air Cleaner?

Does the Tornado really work? Does it gave you better gas mileage?

Re: Maintenance on 1999 Ford Ranger

a general tune up includes replace pcv valve, fuel filter, spark plugs properly gapped, at 85,000 miles, and replace wires if needed.

both oxy sensors need to be replaced, and timing belt maybe getting close to being replaced. air filter should be replaced every year. for performance supposedly k&n air filters are good. but the most effective at keeping dirt from entering engine is the standard paper filter. the k&n may be adequate but in a test i saw nothing currently beats paper for engine protection.

my wife works at walmart tire and lube express and swears by the injector cleaning service but i am apprehensive to its effectiveness. and i just use a product called seafoam before the spark plugs are changed. along with a bottle of injector cleaner every month or so.

and NOOO. the tornado will not ever save you any gas. only reducing the weight of the car and in the car,or increasing the pressure on the tires, sometimes increasing the amount of air into the engine and out of the tailpipe (but not all the time), and reducing the load on the engine. will improve the gas mileage.
