Hey guys, felow Titan owner here. I have a question for my Brother in law. For the past year his 99 Ranger reg cab long bed 2.5l 5speed has been giving him some trouble. It has 86k miles. He has changed plugs, wires, cap etc (All the necassary tune up items). Although not consistent or predictable the symptoms are as follows; Very poor gas mileage (12-16mpg at best), Stumbling upon acceleration, more so when the truck is cold, When the steering wheel is pulled to one direction entirely (such as a "U" Turn) the engine will sputter and in some cases completely cuts off. He hasnt looked into too much untill about a month ago he tries to reset the trip computer. ONce he held down the button for a couple seconds, every light on the gauge clouster turned on and the mileage was not visable. He tried pushing the trip button again and nothing happened. So he turned off the truck and turned it back on. Which fixed the gauges but left him with a check engine light on. He pulled the code and p0301 came up. Misfire in bank #1. With the same AutZone tool he reset the check engine light. Nothing changed and the truck still has the intermitant symptoms. Now just the other night his check engine light comes on again. He pulls the code again and comes up with p0303. Misfire in bank #3. Hopefully you smart guys on here can point us in the right direction. Thank You in advance!!!
