need help with alternator pulley. Nut backed off

Hey guys and girls. I have a 1996 ford ranger 4 banger and the alternator pulley nut backed off. I got a new nut at the hardware store, 15/16ths by the way, fine thread. How do I stop the shaft from spinning so I can screw the nut on?

Thanks for your help.

Isn't there an allen wrench hole in the shaft?

I'm not sure, but I don't think they have a set screw. Just held on with the nut. A good impact will spin it on enough to hold it.

That's how I do it but most people don't have an impact wrench.
