Hello I drive a 1997 4.0L STX and I need a new muffler really bad due to the fact that the current system is stock and it sucks. My dad suggests getting a flowmaster to put on but i was wondering if anyone on here had luck with anything else? I want my truck louder but not too loud or my girl might strangle me. thanks.

I have the same truck but a 94, i just had a long tube cherry bomb glass pack put on it right where the muffler was. It isnt loud at all but has a nice little tone to it when driving down the road at 1500 rpm. it is louder than stock however i have the cat still on and its original and the truck has 245000 miles so i think if i take it off it would be a little louder. havent had the money to do it yet.
