mad OBD 1 codes

I have a 94 Ranger and it has the check engine light on now three years and no can find a problem, the codes say "primary coil circuit" but she runs great, until just recently, took her in to the dealer and they replaced the coils after I told them that was not the problem, Got it back with the CEL still on and still dropping power after paying 350.00 for nothing

Re: OBD 1 codes

Check your wires going back from the ignition module to the PCM, may have lost the pulse signal from the coils.

"- Faulty Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary
- Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?

Re: OBD 1 codes

Again it is not the coils, Actual problem is that the vehicle will lose power intermittently and then without warning regain power. Even when she is not at full power the coils are still firing

I did not say it was the coils. A pulse signal is sent back to the PCM every time the coil fires.

Re: OBD 1 codes

Thanks, after reading the link I will take a look at the harness and the Control module.
