hi guys i just bought a 99 ranger with a 3.0 drove the truck home on a 2 hr drive with no problem and then 2 days later i noticed that the coolent was low so i filled it and now its over heating at 1st the truck will get realy hot then it will come back to normal but i noticed that the overfill is filled and some time it will blow the cover off

check the oil and make sure it is oil and not mayonnaise consistency, then make sure coolant is not any thing but green in color if it looks oily or brown chances are you have a head gasket leak, the same with abnormal looking oil. how ever you may just have a coolant leak with a bad water pump. somewhere and need to do a pressure test on the coolant system.



i would Personally do the pressure test and check for leaks in the coolant system then do a compression test in the engine for a head gasket check. if it were my truck.

i got a pressure test done today and it was fine so i changed the thermostat and drove around for about 2 hr with nothing wrong then i left a again and it overheated again

if compression test and pressure test check out, then you need to either replace the water pump because the impeller is no pumping water, if that does not help then replace the heater core, then the radiator because they are plugged up.
