Exclamation posi-trac, lockin' diffz...

hey guyz!...too expensive for me to purchase a Lock-Right and/or other private manufactures of "Posi-Traction" rear-endz...want to take one offa a junkyard car/truck...does anyone kno what specific vehicles came from the factory with installed locking differentials?...have 1994 Ford Ranger 4.0L with 28 spline axle shafts and 30 teeth ring gear for a 3:08 ratio rear end...gonna change over to a 4:10 ratio gears, but need that extra traction for the much more lower ratio..was on a web page that told what vehicles had these lockin' diffz in them from the factory, but can't find the page again!!...I remember they're were a few...

I know you want to go with a used unit, but frankly I'd get a new one. You don't know how a used unit has been used (or abused), and this way you can order it with the ratio you want along with the proper ring gear. A good site to check out is Yukon Gear & Axle even if you don't want to purchase, it can still tell you what is available for your vehicle and other vehicles; makes a good reference site.

Lock-Right is a 'lunch box' locker, not limited slip. These can be hard on axles and give a rig bad manners. Posi is a name brand for one manufactures limited slip. Most limited slip diff's clutches are worn out by 50,000 miles leaving you with no advantage. They can be rebuilt. The TrueTrac, Torsen and FX4 (stage II?) limited slips are gear on gear, no clutches, and don't wear out.
