Truck doesn't have power steering bought it that way in 1998. I have a 1997 Ford Ranger saved money but now I want to know how much it would cost to put power steering in by a qualified mechanic. Anyone know?

you mean the p/s wore out and it was just left that way or it never had power steering ?

if it had p/s before you prolly just need a serious replacement of parts.
if it does not feature p/s "i could only imagine" ballprk alota $

thats the professional fix.

for the quick fix bolt on a trucker steering whele whith a lil nob on it.

I have a 97 ranger that had no P/S from the factory. I recently installed it myself for a whopping $250. go to your local auto recycler or pick and pull and get ya a steering gear box and pump. Then go to your local auto parts store and get new power steering hoses (2 of em). Next find a friend or a friend who's in tight with a friend to put it on for ya. It only took 2 hours to do. We had a lift and power tools as well so that cut time dramatically. The only downside to the install was that the splines are not the same on the steering column so now the steering wheel is 180 degrees off. I can live with that for awhile. Eventually I'll go have the toe adjusted to correct.
