Re: Ranger warranty
Unless things have changed for '06, you should have a bumper-to-bumper warranty for everything for 3 years/36,000 miles. The dealer is trying to con you I think. Ask them to show you a warranty book from the truck and where does it say that the A/C is not covered?
In any case, DO NOT buy an extended warranty from anybody BUT Ford. Warranties from someplace like "Tri-State Auto Protect" or whatever have a tendency to go out of business, then you've spent your money and have no warranty coverage.
Unless you truly get a lemon, which is doubtful and you'll know before 36,000 miles, the only part of a modern vehicle that may not last 100,000 miles is the transmission and the cost of an extended warranty is usually about what a new tranny costs anyway. Little stuff like a tail light that keeps shorting out will fall under the deductible and won't be covered anyway, as my wife found out.
Basically the warranty company is gambling that you won't have problems and you're gambling that you will. Also consider how long you plan to keep the vehicle.
