i hope someone can give me an idea what might be causing this. 98 ranger, 4 cyl, 2wd, manual trans........on cold start, the engine barely runs........skipping, hesitating, chugging, stalling....giving it more gas makes it only stall worse. this happens for about 1 minute.........then the engine runs fine. i have put in some drygas and changed the fuel filter. this just started a few days ago...anyone who has any ideas, i'd appreciate it.........my wife needs the vehicle for work. Been there last year. Turned out to be my throttle position sensor. In carburetion terms, when cold, it was basically slamming the choke closed. It would let it start, then "choke" it to death. Had to get a new one. No cold start problems since.
