Simplified plug change for 4.0 Ranger
The 4.0 Ranger passenger side plugs are difficult to remove and replace due to the air conditioning housing and other obstructions. I discovered that all you have to do is jack up the passenger side of the vehicle, remove the tire/wheel assembly and pop loose the plastic buttons that hold the rubber flap to the inner wheel well. You now have a straight shot at all three plugs and can remove and replace them with ease. The driver side plugs are accessable from the top using a conventional ratchet and plug socket.
I used this same method to do plug changes for both sides on the Thunderbird Super Coupe we owned which you can absolutely not reach from the top.
