How involved is it to put a V8 in a Ranger? What drive line is the most popular?

Well that all depends on what you go with EFI or Carb. Carb is easier due to the lack of all the electronics. Wiring a EFI is time consuming. Seems to me the most common setups are EFI 5.0 with AOD tranny's, but there are alot of carb set ups too, no nearly as many 5 speeds out there (I LOVE MINE!!). 2WD rangers are easier then 4by's because on the 2wd you don;t have to deal with the transfer cases. All in all whatever setup you choose you will be happy with, i can gaurantee that. There's nothing like pimpin around in a 5.0 ranger, too much fun. Hope this answers your questions.

Mine cost quite a bit to do, I used a Ron Francis Wire Works harness, I have a 95 Cobra 5.0 backed with a aode {electronic) tranny), Dropping the motor wasn't hard but wiring was a major biznotch, I would say with a carb i could have had it done in a week or so. The harness I used is a stand alone harness, we basically re-wired the whole truck, I didn't do hardly any of the wiring. for some pics check out the page.
