I just replaced my alternator and my battery about 5 or 6 months ago. and already my alternator is goin tits up. what the **** man? anyway its still under warranty so i took it in and got a new one but whats that all about...some bullshit huh?

Seen it happen, especially with rebuilt alternators.

Yes, rebuilt units do tend to go out pretty quick. I don't believe you can even get a brand new unit for a '92 anymore.

When replacing your alternator, be sure you replace the plug as well. Most alternator rebuild houses require you to do so or they won't honor the warranty. The best thing to do is pay a bit more an alternator with the lifetime warranty so even if it does go out again, you're not paying for it.

I've noticed on alternators that it warns that you must have your battery fully charged when you install the alternator, or else alternator damage could occur. Could you be one of the unlucky ones?
