I have a 2003 Ranger with less than 6,000 miles on it and when it rains, my belts squeak like crazy. After I drive the truck for awhile, no noise. I drove a 2001 Ranger for two years and never had this problem. Should I put some dressing on the belts or take it in for service?
Its most proably loose or starting to wear can you see any type of Cracks in the belt. If so its probably a good time to replace. You could also try some dry lube or something similar or some belt spray, but I think that will only mask the problem not fix it.

Let me know how you go

Thanks! I didn't notice any cracks. Wouldn't it be odd for belts to go bad only after 5,000+ miles? I had the same problem with my Probe but it was 4 years old with about 50,000 miles.
Make sure you have the inner fender mud guards above the control arm. Some people on the other Ranger boards have been saying that newer trucks were coming without them or at least one was missing.

I'm a buddy of Christian's -- That old van screeched something horrible!
We put some candle wax on the belts so the school could use the van for some sort of game they were gonna be playing that night. Nothing beats replacing the belts though, also make sure that your tensions are good as well, having your belts too loose will cause them to squeal
