Hello, I am a new member. I just bought a 98 Ranger XLT 4x4 with 69,000 miles. Yesterday I went out to start it and it would not turn over. It acted like juice wasn't getting to the starter. I could hear a click under the dash on the passenger side. Anyway, the battery was good, all the relays turned out to be good, everything checked out ok. So here's the deal, this ranger has a theft system in it. There is a light in the dash that constantly blinks theft when the doors are locked. After messing with this truck for about five hours and not getting anywhere I started messing with the keyless entry remote and theft system. Next thing ya know the truck started right up and has started well since. My question: Could this THEFT system prevent the starter from turning? Any information or advice would greatly be appreciated. - Thanks

might be neutral stop switch going bad. but i dunno maybe the pats system could also go bad. never heard of it. but it is possible.
