is there any way to increase milage on a 4.0

I have a 01 4x4 Ranger and I might as well have a full size F150 V8 because the gas milage is about the same. Any Ideaas of how to increase the milage is apperciated.

Re: is there any way to increase milage on a 4.0

Ranger is a good reliable vehicle from Ford, but the only downfall this mighty little truck has is it's fuel mileage. Even a 2WD model gets less than 16MPG and full size trucks get the same mileage.

You can get a K&N Filter, upgrade the exhaust with Flowmaster or whatever, and spend hundreds of dollars trying to improve the mileage, but never be satisfied.

Here is all I have to say as an experienced "Dickbag know it all" Ford mechanic............................

Keep the Ranger and deal with the MPG. This little truck might suck gas, but it will always be there for you. Reliability is hard to find these days.

Trade it for a full-size truck since you already expect a truck to suck gas anyway.

Go over to mpg Research to find a LOT of ways to improve mileage.
