I was wondering if anyone knew whether the A4LD stock transmission from a
1988 3.0L V6 2WD would work on a truck that has a
1993 4.0L V6 4WD that also uses the A4LD stock transmission

Stop in to a ford dealer service center and they should be able to give you a correct answer free of charge. I'm sure it would bolt right up if the transmission model is the same, but with 4wd hardware you want to make certain there wasn't anything else added or taken away parts wise.
