Re: what can i do?

It is a '92 Ford Ranger XLT. its a four cylinder but for emissions reasons it has eight spark plugs....? Lets see...its a stick, its all manual pretty much. i dont know anything about the gear ratio or anything like that though. so are there any quick, painless mods to boost it up some?

Quick and easy is a new free flowing CAI.more of a sotp feeling than true hp gains. Get a freer flowing exhaust. You wantto spend some money then get a 5.4, 4.6, windsor or clevo and drop it in.

cool Re: what can i do?

Better intake like a K&N FIPK, Gibson makes some good exhausts for Rangers. JBA Racing or Clifford Research MAY have a header for it but I don't know for sure. Try Doug's and Hooker too. Your truck probably has 3.45 gears so think about 4.10's especially if you put on bigger tires.

Re: what can i do?

hello i am new here but these helped my brother car get better hp you might want to try a cold air intake and maybe a flowmaster muffler and lighten up your truck like if you have a topper and make sure the tailgate isnt dragging ya

Re: what can i do?

Maybe try a jet chip. You could probably find a perfectly functional used one on ebay for much cheaper than new.

Re: what can i do?

I have a '92 and I noticed it started to dog at 90K. I started putting Engine Restorer in the oil when I changed it and that helped a bit. More than I expected but not a ton.

I agree that a cold air intake will help but add an aftermarket exhaust and it will do more.

Also, my intake manifold was filthy. I would pull the air hose off of the throttle body and clean it up with some fuel injector cleaner.
