FPV&XR Car Club - SA ANZAC Day cruise
The FPV&XR Car Club - SA was invited by the Wirrabara District council to put on a display at their ANZAC day picnic.
Wirrabara is a small town between Laura and Orroroo, at the beginning of the Flinders Ranges about 200 klicks from Adelaide.
The day began at 7.45am at the Caltex Bolivar on Pt Wakefield road, at 8am we headed of towards our first stop at Clare. Little traffic was encountered and we had a great run along good roads.
After the refreshment stop at Clare we motored towards Wirrabara, cruising through, Gladstone, Laura and a few tiny towns, with the cars getting some good looks as we went through.
Once at Wirrabara, we set up the display and settled down for the day, with plenty to do and see.
We packed up and headed off around 4pm but not before doing a drive past to the delight of the local lads. We headed north before turning towards Highway 1 going through the Pt Germain gorge (worth going the distance to do).
It was decided to have tea at Crystal Brook, at the Crystal Brook Hotel, and it was well worth the effort, the meals were superb.
We left there at about 9pm getting back to Adelaide around 11pm after a short stop at Pt Wakefield.
A fantastic day was had by all and we have been invited back next year. Thanks to the people of Wirrabara for making us feel so welcome and to club members for supporting the event.
Our next event is the "Off with the Ferries" cruise, where we will be cruising along both sides of the Murray using all the ferries to cross from one side to the other. So stay tuned.
