Cheers for the pics and vids. Is anyone else in this madhouse into rally? It is also good to see those "not-so-typical" cars in there. Most of the spot light goes to the WRX's and EVO's but the big Fords and Holdens are making for an exciting year in their Aussie Car Class.
The AU XRs do very well in their class. I'd have to admit, they must be a pig of a thing to get around tight bush tracks. I have enough trouble around Woolies carpark!
The EF XR6 in the HCR was me. Great photos/movies! If you have any more of my car I would be interested in having a look. I can be contacted on illusion@tpgi.com.au
The other cars in the event were a VT V8 commodore driven by Dave Thompson from Tasmiana. Now that car sounds fat! The other was a VS V8 driven by John Murray, who is actually the grandson of the great "Gelignite' Jack Murray, a well known competitor from the early Redex trials.
We had a crap event, suffering from terminal engine failure on the forth stage Saturday morning, after battling all sorts of other problems in the early stages. We were unable to get the car going sufficiently well the restart on the Sunday.
The good news is that when we stopped, we were over a minute ahead of the nearest Commodore (the VT V8), and doing it comfortably. The roads were superfast throughthe watagans - we were hitting 180km/h fairly regularly.
