DETAILS OF VENUE AND TIMES HAVE NOW BEEN ADDED
HERE
I’m looking at organizing a combined FordForums / E-Series Sydney go-karting day in MARCH, and was wondering how many of the NSW guys would be interested.
We have a couple of choices for venue.
Of course in Sydney you start with the Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway.
http://www.easterncreekkarts.com.au/
Advantage of this place is that they’re open 9am-10pm Sunday to Thursday and 9am-11pm Friday & Saturday so we could go night Karting if we wanted. They also race rain or shine so the weather isn’t an issue. “Arrive and Drive casual hire of the 13hp Karts is $42 for 15 minutes and $77 for 30 minutes racing.
Alternatively, you can do their “Mini Grand Prix” for a group booking of 10-20 people over a 3 hour period for $195 per person in their corporate “Thunder Karts” !!!
This event includes:
- Official welcome and registration
- Driver training and safety briefing
- Warm up
- Heat 1 and Heat 2
- Heat 3 and Heat 4
- Grand Final
- Presentation of Awards
The drawback is of course the cost. ECIKR can be quite expensive compared to some other smaller tracks in Sydney.
----------
Minto Fastlane Go-Karting is a 500m outdoor track (no website found) where group bookings are more a sort of track hire. Up to 8 people racing costs $440 for 1 hour (plus $3 license per person). 8-16 people costs $660 for 1½ hours and 16-24 people costs $880 for 2 hours.
----------
Then you have the Indy800 outdoor track out at Wilberforce (in the grounds of The Butterfly Farm) just past Windsor. I’ve been to this track in the past and can say from experience that it’s pretty good.
An 800m track with a decent size and layout, a group booking (10 people) would see us paying $88 each for 4 15 minute karting sessions. Their website is at
http://www.indy800.com.au/indy800.html
The Butterfly Farm also has picnic & BBQ facilities and a boat ramp if anyone would like to bring along a boat at go waterskiing on the Hawkesbury River, as well as the Butterfly Museum.
----------
Kartatak Raceway (
http://www.kartatak.com.au) is an indoor 300m track at Arncliffe. Again open till 10pm (11pm Fri/Sat), this venue is weatherproof but limited by the maximum 8 karts per session. Standard kart hire there is $46 per 30 minutes, and they have group booking packages for up to 36 (but they’re fairly complex so I can’t give you prices without finding out more at this stage).
----------
Another track is the Picton Kart Track at Maldon, about 30 minutes south of Liverpool off the Hume.
Group booking prices start from as little as 6 people @ $26 for 15 minutes, $50 for 30 minutes or $94 for 1 hour.
----------
So at this stage I’d like you to post expressions of interest and track preference please. If anyone knows of another decent Sydney track that I’ve not mentioned (I just looked these ones up in the Yellow Pages) please.
Once we get a bit of an idea of who wants to go and where we’ll set a specific time, date and place.
Cheers
Jason

PS: After checking a couple of different calendars, this will happen on either the weekend of March 13/14 or March 27/28, as the Australian F1GP is on the first weekend of the month, and the V8Supercar Clipsal500 is on in the 3rd week of March.
