What a trip!!!
Our small group has returned home to Adelaide after the FPV Family day, you might have seen us on display over in the engine production line area along with the XR6 & 8 Club SA and the Tickford club SA, we were there as the FPV & XR Car Club SA.
We had a fantastic trip over leaving Wednesday morning, we lunched in Halls Gap before arriving for a night at Ballarat, whilst there we were shown over the Ballarat railway station and its unique interlocking system and swinging gates, for the mechanical nuts out there well worth having a look at.
Thursday morning we headed of to Queenscliff, south of Geelong and we crossed over to Sorrento on the Car ferry, before heading down to Philip Island for a look at the track, we then made tracks for Melbourne and the caravan Park, where we set up for the next few days.
Friday morning we journeyed up to Herrods where Rob opened his doors for us to have a look and then to do some work on all our cars, with some impressive rear wheel KW being obtained after the Herrods boys worked their magic, a special thanks to Rob and Tim and the rest of the guys. It was then time for a specially arranged tour of the Falcon production line, this took 50 minutes and we saw some incredible stuff, thanks to Jamal for such a good tour, and if the day wasnt as good as it could get free entry to the Motor show topped the day right off.
Saturday we headed off to the Dandenong ranges and spent the day cruising around, even the wet and cold day couldnt put a dampener on the fun, with a ride on puffing billy and lunch from a top notch bakery, Tea that night was fish and chips down at St Kilda, magic.
Sunday was of course the FPV Family day and after setting up our display we enjoyed a great day of mixing with other clubs from all over Aust and checking out the fantastic cars, with Laminges TS50(already drooled over at Herrods...Hey Laminge Im still waiting for those adoption papers to turn up........), and Gordie from the Tickford Car Club SAs immaculate AUII XR6, to name a couple. The day was capped off with young Sean Deguet winning the best drawing 12 to 16 years. It was then off for tea at the Keg and Swan Resturant at Lake Albert, very posh.
Monday we drove home via Hamilton and Naracoorte arriving mid evening.
A great time was had by all and we cant wait to see what we come up with next year.
