1988 Ford Tempo Serpentine Drive belt slipped off pulleys

The automatic tensioner seems to show a gap and does not line up with the ribbed pulleys. Is this tensioner damaged ? Not sure how it looked in the beginning.What is the best way to check if this tensioner is still good and put the belt back on.


There is a bracket obstructing my view of the tensioner
The bracket seems to be attached to engine.

Is this an easy fix ?
Any tips on doing the work would be apppreciated.

the bracket is part of the motor mount.
do your belts apear to being eaten up as well?

if the tensonor cant keep tension on the belt there gona hop.
you may need a new 1
also if the harmonic balancer is outa wack that can and will cause the belts to get munched and hop.

you forgot to mention 1 important thing.
2.3 or v6
im willing to bet 4 banger, dont think the v6 was out that year.
if it is the 4cyl
the pulley i think you may be describing is the idler pulley its underneath and kinda hidden behind the bracket you have described, if the bearings in that are going out the belt aint gona set right.
