Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum....Hope you guys can help...
My PFE and EGR, along with my EGR port and EGR Tube are all clean and within spec, BUT i keep getting Error Code 332 which keeps my MIL light on once i get driving a few miles, and then of course it stays on BRIGHT REd and its quite annoying.
I thought i may be a vacuum line leak, so that my EGR isnt staying open fully. I noticed if i start the car, and keep revving until highway speed, and never let off the gas, then the MIL (service engine light) never turns on....
Any advice?
Also, my lap belt broke, and I can find a replacement ANYWHERE for it. I now live in Illinois, central Illinois, and im wondering if you guys have any ideas. Thanks a ton!!!
Re: 1993 Tempo V6; 143k NYC miles, runs great....BUT
same thing happened to me, egr tube rusted, 02 sensor shot.
i disconnected the the 02 sensor wire, fooled the air intake temp sensor.
problem destroyed.
However to go about doing this the right way, start with the 02 sensor, and inspect the inside of the egr tube.
Otherwise sum1 wil prolly post soon pinpointing excatly what causes it, personaly im unfamilar with the error codes, learned to solve problems the old fassioned way.
btw how exactly did the lap belt brake?
I got a price quote from a junk yard down here a used lap belt assembly for $25.
Its above and beyond the call of duty but if u wnanan write a check out to the yard and pay shiping ill do the rest, if u absoutly cannot fix it or get replacement parts.
Hate to see sum 1 witout a lap belt, especially when ur driving a tempo with a built in race car, u just dont know it yet.
Re: 1993 Tempo V6; 143k NYC miles, runs great....BUT
Hey Cronicus,
Thanks a ton... I might in fact take you up on the Lap Belt offer, shipped to me in Illinois.
I cant find one ANYWHERE.
One day, i just buckled it in, and it never unlatched; I had to cut myself out of the car by cutting the fabric of the belt. To this day i havent unlatched the buckled from the receving end.
Thanks, and BTW Error Code 332 says "Insufficient EGR Flow"
My EGR tube and O2 sensors are all new, but problem persists.
If in fact I have to replace my vacuum lines, then where do you suggest I go to find them? Those small hardened resin/plastic lines arent available at the dealer anymore.
Thanks a ton man,

Re: 1993 Tempo V6; 143k NYC miles, runs great....BUT
332 should be the PFE sensor. Alot of times it's the vaccumn line from the EGR tube to the sensor.
The reasons the light doesn't come on when you start & rev is that the car runs off of a pre programmed setup until it warms up and uses all the sensors. Also at WOT, the EGR is ignorned by the computer. I found if I could get on interstate (or into WOT) before the car warmed up, I would never get a CE light.
I'd place money that either the PFE sensor or the hose is bad.

As for the hard emissions lines, they can be purchased at Advance in like 5 or 10 foot coils.

Thanks a ton for the info.
The Silicone tube running from my EGR tube into my PFE sensor is new, as is my EGR tube.
I havent replaced the PFE sensor, but I did plug one in at a dealer, and the light still came on.
So, a bunch of guys are telling me that it may just be a vacuum line leak that doesnt allow enough vaccum to be sent to the EGR Valve, and so the valve closes when say, i hit the brake (and use up vaccuum) or let off the gas, thereby reducing engine revs (and decreasing production of vaccuum)
So, I will go to Advance Auto and see if they can sell me those small diameter resin vacuum lines, and elbows hopefully too, and ill replace all the vaccuum lines in the vehicle.
Thanks for teh WOT explanation, sounds logical; didnt realize the PCM ignores the EGR at WOT. Thanks a ton....
Re: 1993 Tempo V6; 143k NYC miles, runs great....BUT
yo sry for time in reply but ya i got hundreds of tempos at dozens of junk yards with working seat belts,
so u need just the locking device, because it jamed and u need the belt real and bolts? anything else? Just get a check or a money order made out to this junk yard" U-Pull it" ill make double shure before though and then ull have to either make aa check/money order out to dhl postal service
i needa know
2-4 door?
gl,xl,_ ?
year/engine
just to make absoutly shure u get the closest ,match to ur belt as possible
I replaced my maf sensor to a lil more high end 1 after i got a better msd blaster pickup coil and tfi blaster ignition module, all my remaing problems include
tire wear 2 fast
serphitines get chewed up
speed wobble
brakes
i found shortening all the vacume lines as much as possible helps alot!
i replaced all mine with a high end plastic smooth as hell lines from home depo, cost i think $10 for 6 feet which is actualy cheaper than a autozone set of lines and seems to flow better, slowly im geting parts to replace the entire vacume line system with copperflex lines about the same size maybe .10''
-.20'' bigger.
as for the rest sumtimes i get a constant error light, i just disconect the o2 sensor at the firewall clip in plug.
helps a lil.
btw drag8tim at what temp does the engine switch up over the preset after its warmed up?
Re: 1993 Tempo V6; 143k NYC miles, runs great....BUT
Thanks a Cronicus!!!
I have a 1993 Ford Tempo Sedan V6 w/ NO AIRBAG, and 'passive restraint' seat belt. This has a motorized beige shoulder belt, and a seperate unit that consists of a retractable lap belt that pulls out of the B-pillar and locks into a 1.5 foot long plastic piece with receivng buckle/clip that is locked in the right hand side (near center arm rest) of my drivers seat.
I am of course looking for the drivers seat side unit, for just the lap belt in beige, if possible.
I owe you for this one.
I will make the check out to the junkyard, and DHL or whoever you need me to.
Let me know the price.
Thanks!

Re: 1993 Tempo V6; 143k NYC miles, runs great....BUT
Sorry, so yes, the bolts, retracting belt unit, and receiving arm unit.
The whole lap belt deal in beige, if they got it.
Let me know, Im not too picky on color at this point at all.
I just wanna make sure I dont wreck and submarine under the semi-useless shoulder belt.
Thanks again Cronicus!!!
