1993 Topaz stalling problems
Experiencing stalling problem when climbing mountain passes, not necessarily steep but under 4500 feet elevation, with speed in the 50-60 mph range. This has been going on intermittantly over past several years. Car pulls good and hard, but then all of a sudden it dies. Feels like a vapour lock in fuel system. Engine starts immediately again but dies after about 20 seconds. I wait about 10 minutes, it starts and it might run for the next 6 months before problem hits again. It does not overheat when running. Fuel pump works good, replaced ignition module recently and it still died once. Now that last time it stalled I took the outfeed end of the fuel filter off and had the ignition turned on to pump fuel, and lots came out. Connected the line back on again and it started up and I was on my way. Each time it has stalled it felt like a vapour lock, (not getting fuel). Also could there be a sensor shutting eveything down?
