In Jan of this year I purchased my mother in law's 84 Tempo with 54,000 miles
I took it to my son who lives in Las Vegas NV as his car was giving him problems and figuring at least he would have car to drive till his was repaired.
I might add here the reason for the low miles was that my MIL was in a nursing home for 16 yrs and it was driven very little I replaced gaskets oil pan,trans. and valve cover plus all 4 struts. Since then it has given my son nothing but problems. The first was a voltage regulator. now he says it is stalling or just stops, and can't get it started. It is getting hot in Vegas and and it seems that may be the compounding the problem any suggestions would greatly appreciated.
I am going out there next week to return his car but I'm afraid I might get stranded if I try to drive it back to Colorado.

Could be the fuel filter or possibly the fuel pump.

Have him check the harness to the fuel sender while he's got the tank down. It never hurts to make sure the pump is getting the right voltage.

Welcome to the board BTW. Also the title says it stalls,when does it stall? I'd also do a tune up on it plugs,wires,cap & rotor, PCV valve.With a car sitting that long it's due.

A bad plug wire would cause this too.A tune up on that car's short money.

Not sure on how handy you are but we have these Ford Tempo Haynes Manuals that are easy to follow and might help you to repair a few things.
